Students and professionals pack the room for Joe Moskal’s Fireside Chat

CBCAN “fireside chat” with Joe Moskal, Chief Scientific Officer of Aptinyx and Professor and Director of the Falk Center for Molecular Therapeutics, Northwestern University, hosted by CBC Executive Director, Jim Audia. NMH, Feinberg Pavilion, June 17, 2019.

The Chicago Biomedical Consortium hosted a CBCAN “fireside chat” with Joe Moskal, Chief Scientific Officer of Aptinyx and Professor and Director of the Falk Center for Molecular Therapeutics, Northwestern University. CBC Executive Director, Jim Audia, moderated the chat by posing a series of questions regarding Joe’s career journey, his reflections on changes that he has observed with the biotechnology sector, the importance of learning from mentors, and reasons he believes Chicago is a great place to live and work.

Audience members had an opportunity to participate in Q&A and enjoyed Joe’s great sense of humor as he addressed a variety of inquiries ranging from the low points in Joe’s career challenges to ways that he keeps his team positive and motivated.

Nearly 100 attendees transitioned from the fireside chat to the CBCAN networking reception to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while continuing the conversation with Joe and other members of the CBC community. Joe was especially engaged with post-docs and graduate students from Northwestern University, UIC and UChicago during the networking session, providing one-on-one guidance and advice to rising professionals. We are grateful to Joe Moskal for his dedication to research and the inspiration he provides to Chicago area students and professionals. Thank you, Joe!
